DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 20 March) – Drug enforcers arrested during a buy-bust operation Tuesday noon a female fire officer and a driver in what was so far the biggest amount of shabu (metamphetamine) seized here, with the prohibited substance valued at P1.08 million.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 11 identified the suspects as Ednilyn Lumongsod Solis, 27, and Monsour Kalipa Usman, 32, who claimed to be residents of Barangay Maa here.

When presented to Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte during his “Ato ni Bay” program at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building here, Solis admitted that she has been a fire officer II at the Bureau of Fire Protection in Kapalong town in Davao del Norte for five years now while Usman said he is from Cotabato City.

Also presented to Duterte were 24 sachets, each containing five grams of shabu, which according to PDEA 11 regional director Emerson Rosales was the biggest value so far seized here.

Duterte congratulated the PDEA-11 members for doing their job.

Rosales said the two suspects were caught in a buy-bust operation with a marked money of P50,000 at No. 62 F. Torres St. in Barangay 8-A here. The place is supposedly a boarding house rented by the two to make it appear they are lovers, according to the PDEA.

It was a joint buy-bust operation by the members of the PDEA and San Pedro police station, he said.

Rosales said the shabu items were from Cotabato City, adding that authorities had monitored the suspects since last year.

The two suspects will charged for violating Republic Act 9168 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Lorie Ann A. Cascaro / MindaNews)
